LMT IoT and Infineon launch mentorship program
[Published: May 13, 2026]
A new hands-on program will give startups and product companies access to hardware, engineering expertise, and cellular IoT infrastructure to move faster from prototype to pilot.

LMT IoT, in collaboration with Infineon Technologies AG, a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT, have launched a new mentorship program for startups and product companies developing IoT devices that combine edge AI with low-power cellular connectivity.
The program is designed for teams building connected products – from industrial monitoring and predictive maintenance to environmental sensing, smart agriculture, asset tracking, smart building systems, and more. The partners will receive free hardware, direct access to LMT IoT engineering expertise, structured technical sessions, and support in moving from concept or prototype toward a working connected pilot. Applications for the current intake are open until July 31, 2026.

At the core of the program is the combination of Infineon’s edge AI hardware with LMT IoT’s cellular connectivity. With LMT IoT’s extension board, teams can connect Infineon AI kits to LTE-M and NB-IoT networks more easily and start sending device data to the cloud with less technical setup.
“Hardware is hard – especially for teams building new connected products with limited engineering resources. This program gives companies a shortcut through some of the most complex parts of the development process – cellular connectivity, edge AI integration, hardware bring-up and prototype troubleshooting. Our goal is not only to provide hardware, but to work directly with teams so they can get their products running in real-world conditions faster”
Valters Skrastins, Head of IoT Hardware at LMT IoT.
The LMT IoT and Infineon mentorship program does not take equity and has no participation fee. Accepted companies will receive hardware at no cost, while the most promising teams will be selected for deeper one-to-one technical engagement based on product fit, technical readiness, and commercial potential.
The program is particularly relevant for companies building devices that need to process data locally, reduce cloud dependency, operate on battery power, and transmit only the most relevant information over a cellular network.
“We are proud to support developers and startups with robust and easy-to-use hardware that helps transform ideas into real-world, connected solutions. Infineon’s strong microcontroller portfolio and Deepcraft™ software solutions offer end-to-end Edge AI and best-in-class system performance. The combination with ultra-low-power connectivity is a key enabler for the next generation of IoT applications. Through our collaboration with LMT IoT, we can extend our connectivity offer with an easy-to-use cellular connection to the cloud.”
Andreas Mühlberger, Strategic Partner Manager at Infineon.
The mentorship program includes an application review, an introductory technical call, hardware shipment for accepted teams, and ongoing support throughout the prototype phase. LMT IoT engineers will provide guidance on architecture, integration, connectivity setup, firmware considerations, and prototype troubleshooting. Participants will also have access to expert webinars and live Q&A sessions covering implementation, testing, and scaling.

This initiative has been noted by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) as a significant milestone in Latvia-Austria cooperation that will also further empower the startup ecosystem in Europe and beyond.
“Latvia’s technology ecosystem has strong capabilities in connectivity, IoT, and applied engineering. We are pleased to see LMT and Infineon engaging around a practical program that gives startups and product companies a clearer path from prototype to pilot”
Inga Ulmane, Head of the Representative Office in Austria at the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA)
Mentorship capacity is limited, and slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis for teams that meet the program criteria.
