LMT Group launches IoT Shortcut, the world’s smallest mobile data module

[Published: December 10, 2025]

Latvian mobile technology leader LMT Group has launched IoT Shortcut – the world’s smallest universal mobile data module for sensor equipment. The module simplifies and speeds up the integration of mobile data connections for diverse sensor equipment manufacturers. The module was developed by LMT Group’s IoT engineering team, and the first device to incorporate the technology is Aer, LMT Group’s own latest-generation smart air quality sensor.

A significant added value of the IoT Shortcut is the software created by the LMT Group, which automates data processing, integration, and connectivity, and provides cloud data services with a customizable customer platform and application. The module also features very low energy consumption, ensuring the sensor device’s battery lasts up to 10 years.

“IoT Shortcut allows any device developer to significantly accelerate the development of new products. Mobile data connectivity is usually one of the most complex and costly features in device development. Our module allows IoT device creators to focus on the core solution of their equipment, including our mobile data connectivity as a component in their final product. This allows to substantially shorten the development time of IoT devices from several years to months”

explains Valters Skrastiņš, Head of LMT IoT Technology Development

The module is currently being tested, and confirmed partners include the wireless sensor manufacturer SAF Tehnika, the bark beetle activity monitoring software Spruceful, and the construction monitoring specialist Adventum Tech.

The IoT Shortcut team is also in negotiations with Europe’s largest chip manufacturer, German concern Infineon Technologies AG. Planned cooperation involves integrating the LMT module into Infineon Edge AI solutions. This technology will allow local, on-device AI data processing, which will significantly reduce data transmission volume, improve reaction speed, and extend battery life for IoT sensor devices. Discussions with the European Space Agency regarding funding for integrating a satellite communication function into the IoT Shortcut module are also nearing conclusion, substantially expanding its future potential.
